Kolkata, Feb 12 (IANS) Former West Bengal Labour Minister and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader Mohammed Amin died here on Monday at the age of 89, the party said.
Amin, survived by wife and three children, was also the former General Secretary of Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) from 2007 to 2010.
The veteran Communist leader and former Politburo member served as the Labour Minister between 2001 and 2006 in the Left regime in West Bengal.
Amin, associated with various labour movements in the country, was an expert in Urdu and wrote several poems in that language.
His autobiography, titled “Zindegi Ki Dhoop Chhao”, became very popular.
